Monkeying around

I made this quilt for a friend's son who's turning one soon. It went together super fast and I just think it's the cutest thing. I used fleece for the back..and I'm sooo in love with the look of the quilted fleece that I just might use fleece for all my backs from now on.

L's quilt...DONE

Last month I finished the quilt for my niece. When she saw it, she smiled so big, like should couldn't believe it was really for her. She told my husband the quilt wasn't a present...it was a surprise.

Below are some photos of the quilt...I had the most fun quilting it. I quilted it at home on my domestic machine, and I used a different pattern in each square. It took a long time to finish the entire thing..but since I love the actual quilting part the best..I enjoyed every minute of it. And L's smile...that made all the hours worth it.

I quilted hearts into a few of the blocks as well.

I 'had' to put an L in there too!

I quilted her name into the border.

I used applique to add her name to the back of the quilt.

This is how the quilt looks on a twin sized bed.

I made it bigger than the bed so that it would hang over the edges.

Spider Webs

My new favorite thing to quilt is spider webs.

Ironic, since I hate spiders so much.

Happy Monday everyone..hope your weekends were filled with fun sewing.

About Me

My photo
Welcome to Calico Cali Designs! I’m Kat, digitizer and sewing enthusiast. I learned how to digitize in 2010 from master digitizer Walter Floriani…it was an amazing experience. Soon instead of spending my time sewing, quilting and stitching out other people’s embroidery designs, I was sewing, quilting and stitching out my own embroidery designs. I created this blog, not only as a place to share my embroidery designs, but also as a place to share all the things I make, sew, paint, embroider, and create. You’ll see posts about my life, my studio, patterns I’ve sewn and products I’ve tested. I hope you enjoy reading these posts as much as I’ve enjoyed creating them. Follow me on twitter www.twitter.com/calicocalidsgns . Hugs!! – Kat
