I took a break from packing up the house to make one last quilt prior to the move. My friend and I bought the same line of fabric (Scrumptious by Moda) and made the same exact pattern...each with our own twist on it. I bought a layer cake, along with some yardage of white, while she bought yardage of each fabric.
Unfortunately, her quilt isn't done yet so I don't have a side by side photo show you. But I did take photos of the entire process while making my quilt, so I'll share those with you instead. I will say this, using the layer cake make the entire process go much faster. Layer cakes are now my new favorite pre-cuts.

Cutting up the layer cake. |
Love the look of stacked cut fabric. |
Chain sewing the strips together. |
Lots of pieces sewn together. |
Laying out the rows of chevrons. |
Laying out the rows of bricks. |
I decided to add a few rows of sashing to make the quilt longer. |
I tested the quilt size by laying it out on my King sized bed. |
I baste my quilts on my kitchen floor, because I'm glamorous like that. |
I used my walking foot to quilt straight lines in the chevrons. |
I added piping along the outer edges of the quilt before I put the binding on. |
Finished quilt!!! |
Done = beautiful |

I'm soo happy with how this quilt turned out. I can't wait to use it in my new house. |
I'm so in love with this Scrumptious line of fabric from Moda (I did add in one piece of fabric that's not from the line)...and I also really like this pattern it's so fun and spring like. The pattern can be found on the Moda Bake Shop site, it's called the Scrumptious Scrappy Chevron Picnic Quilt by Rhonda from Patchwork Sampler.
Happy quilting everyone!

This looks great! I love the piping!!! I am getting ready to start a Scrumptions Quilt- granny squares, and I am afraid my white Kona will not look right. I already cut the white strips. What did you use?
