Scrumptious Quilt

I took a break from packing up the house to make one last quilt prior to the move. My friend and I bought the same line of fabric (Scrumptious by Moda) and made the same exact pattern...each with our own twist on it. I bought a layer cake, along with some yardage of white, while she bought yardage of each fabric.

Unfortunately, her quilt isn't done yet so I don't have a side by side photo show you. But I did take photos of the entire process while making my quilt, so I'll share those with you instead. I will say this, using the layer cake make the entire process go much faster. Layer cakes are now my new favorite pre-cuts.

I decided to add a few rows of sashing to make the quilt longer.

I tested the quilt size by laying it out on my King sized bed.

I baste my quilts on my kitchen floor, because I'm glamorous like that.

I used my walking foot to quilt straight lines in the chevrons.

I added piping along the outer edges of the quilt before I put the binding on.

I'm soo happy with how this quilt turned out. I can't wait to use it in my new house.

I'm so in love with this Scrumptious line of fabric from Moda (I did add in one piece of fabric that's not from the line)...and I also really like this pattern it's so fun and spring like. The pattern can be found on the Moda Bake Shop site, it's called the Scrumptious Scrappy Chevron Picnic Quilt by Rhonda from Patchwork Sampler.

Happy quilting everyone!

Remodel complete....just in time to move.

I can't believe it's been over a month since my last post! Whoops. Sorry about that. Things have gotten amazingly busy lately. First we finished our remodel!!! Yeah! I'm wicked happy with our new kitchen and living/dining space. Here are some photos of the completed remodel.

Photo bombed by Cali!!
Sooo loving the new counters.

New counters!!!
Great shot of the new counters, new floor, and stained cabinets.

Another fabulous shot of the new floor, new counters and stained cabinets.
New floor, new curtains. Photo bombed by Cali who refused to move from the sofa.
Once the remodel was done...we sold the house. Yup. We are moving. We did the remodel because we were thinking of moving and knew that if we decided to sell, the remodel would make the house sell faster. And, if we decided to stay, well then we'd have an amazing new space to enjoy.  During the remodel we officially decided to go ahead with the move from WI to OR. DH accepted the new job in Oregon, booked a moving truck...and we are officially moving in 20 days.

So, as you can imagine...there are now boxes and bubble wrap everywhere. Seriously, you can't even see my amazing new counters right now as they are covered with packing materials. None the less I'm sooo very excited to be moving to the West Coast.

Onward Adventure!!!
